Purpose of the role
This position supports the development and implementation of the Haniel Operating Way (HOW) in all businesses and associates within Haniel by actively promoting and facilitating the use of HOW tools and methods for Continuous Improvement. This role is a key position within a newly created team responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple businesses and functions. It will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding LEAN methodologies, enabling and supporting business transformation. There will be a strong focus on developing the right tool set for this business with supporting training materials and training plan to ensure timely and impactful deployment. As a senior leader the role will require a great deal of training and coaching at all levels of the business. This high influence position will interface with all associate levels and various functions / Business units within Haniel.
Key Responsibilities
- To work with key business stakeholders and ‘LEAN champions’, to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change.
- Support business units to drive targeted, sustainable improvement in SQDCI (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Iventory) results that are tied to Strategy Deployment (SDP) and Daily Performance Management (DPM) by leveraging Value Stream Transformations, process improvement tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
- Engage leadership in developing and executing business unit kaizen event funnel and managing sustainment activities.
- To assist in the development and implementation of a multi-year world class CI program, to be applied across all functions and teams.
- Set up, facilitate and lead of kaizen events through all stages (charter ideation / creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in kaizen week, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment).
- Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate HOW tools to eliminate them.
- Actively partnering with process owners to ensure results delivered / future state achieved.
- Assist business units in the development of a HOW roadmap (i.e., how to use the HOW tools to drive sustainable improvement in results).
- Promote and facilitate associate development in various HOW tools, lean production, and kaizen leadership.
- Provide formal and informal training, coaching, mentoring to associates must be able to translate HOW concepts to local situations and help individuals and teams progress in understanding and correct application for sustainable business improvements.

Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Need to be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint. Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Will be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.
- Professional experience acquired through a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an Operational or Transactional function with 2-3+ years of applied lean / continuous improvement experience
- Strong analytical skills and applied knowledge of a problem solving process
- Proven experience with value stream mapping and execution of related Kaizen roadmaps
- Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment - knows when to lead and when to follow
- Superior facilitation and training skills (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping)
- Lives the "continuous improvement" philosophy, can drive change successfully and is seen as an ambassador for HOW
- Willing to travel
- Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
- Language Skills: German and English
