Currently, the Haniel portfolio comprises seven business units: BauWatch, BekaertDeslee, CWS, das kinderzimmer, Emma, Optimar, ROVEMA and TAKKT. The Haniel Operating Way (HOW) team was established with a focus on Lean, Digital, Sustainability and Talent to support value creation in Haniel's portfolio companies.

Head of Strategy (m/f/d)
fulltime or partime (mind. 75%)
ROLE CONTEXT AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As one of Europe´s largest and most dynamic purpose-driven investors, Haniel is now starting the next chapter of its strategic development. Focus will be set on building and actively shaping a holistic portfolio of sustainable businesses around three broad investment themes: People.Planet.Progress. (PPP). The investment strategy is based on two pillars: Structured and focused deal origination (outbound/inbound) within the specified investment themes (“PPP”) as well as structured bolt-on acquisitions in the existing portfolio companies. Haniel applies an active and holistic approach to create value along the dimensions Strategy, Execution, and Talent
This position is reporting to the Chief People & Strategy Officer Main tasks and responsibilities within the Haniel HOW Team include but are not limited to:
Haniel Group Strategy
- Run yearly Haniel group strategy review, reviewing both overall strategy (is our plan still right?) and progress (are we on track towards our ambition?)
- Support the Haniel strategy deployment process to ensure that top improvement priorities are met
- Ensure the active communication of the Haniel strategy, ensuring that it is understood by all employees, shareholders, and other relevant stakeholders
Business Unit Strategies
- Drive yearly strategic review and planning process across the currently 7 businesses
- Set process and standards, align agenda together with BUs and Investment Partners and ensure that crucial topics are covered
- Challenge the BUs’ strategies
- Support specific BUs in their efforts
- Ensure that (after the strategy review) the discussed priorities are translated into the strategy deployment process
HOW Conversion
- Own and communicate Haniel’s strategy framework as part of HOW; adjust as needed
- Actively participate in HOW Conversion by becoming a tool expert (e.g., in Strategy Deployment, Transactional Process Improvement)
Stakeholder Management
- Support the CEO/CFO with supervisory board reporting
- Engage in strategic dialogue with shareholders as required
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years working experience, ideally within strategy- or management consulting.
- Excellent academic degree combined with knowledge in the area of finance and strategy
- Fluency in German and English
- Experience in coordinating strategy development processes and leading the development of executive-chartered initiatives from concept phase through the transition to operations, using a combination of project management, change management, facilitation, and business management expertise
- Practical experience in navigating relationships, authority, and decision-making effectively within a dynamic organization
- Conduct strategic assessments and stay abreast of the evolving market landscape to serve as a resource for strategic planning activities
- Business insight: Apply knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals.
- Continuously improve processes to increase customer value
- Develop, maintain, and execute a strategy that creates sustainable value
- Agree targets, track results and take actions, to ensure performance
